ABOUT THOMAS TURNER

Born in California and raised in Georgia, diverse landscapes and wildlife have profoundly shaped Thomas Turner’s artistic journey. Early inspiration from travel, nature, animation, and illustrated books fueled his imagination and creativity. Art became his way of transforming reality into something more meaningful.

A pivotal moment occurred in high school when he discovered the works of Salvador Dali, Greg “Craola” Simkins, and Alex Pardee, sparking a lifelong journey into surrealism and artistic expression. This discovery led him to explore various creative avenues before enrolling at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2010. In 2012, he earned a BFA in Illustration, propelling him into a creative odyssey that took him to unexpected places.

In 2014, an internship with ABV (A Better View) Gallery & Agency in Atlanta, GA, under the guidance of ABV founder & acclaimed artist Greg Mike, opened Thomas's eyes to the expansive world of fine art and murals, revealing limitless horizons. During his tenure at ABV, Thomas was introduced to a cast of world-renowned artists, including James Bullough. This chance meeting sparked a transformative apprenticeship with Bullough in 2018. Global travels and ongoing mural projects marked the ensuing years, solidifying Thomas's presence in the art scene.

Now firmly established in his artistic journey, Turner blends nature and folklore in his work, exploring the connection between humans, flora, and fauna. His art, often featuring imagery constructed from natural elements, envisions a world with a reduced human footprint and invites viewers into immersive, dreamlike experiences. Turner’s works are featured in galleries and cityscapes around the world.

Giant Hummingbird Takes Over Busy Buckhead Intersection (Click for article)

I caught a glimpse of Atlanta-based artist Thomas Turner as he was painting an enormous hummingbird on the wall of the Modera Prominence at the corner of Piedmont Road and Lenox Rd. He had a small photograph for reference, and he was using spray paint to add feather details to the head of the massive bird. I was blown away by the realistic feathers he was able to create with a can of spray paint.
